Now that school has started back and your family member is working... It can be FUN to keep a weekly journal of what you did at school for him/her to read when they get back home. Make it bright and fun and use all your favorite colors to write with or color on the page borders of a special notebook just for your journal.
Email photos or send picture mail of what you created at school in art classes or from special projects to your family member on the road...
If your family member over the road has a laptop set up with a web cam, SKYPE is a great way to keep in touch and talk in video mode.
