Maintenance Tips
These are things you can  check periodically much like a "Pre Trip" ...

Items I check are wiring harnesses, water lines and
assorted nuts and bolts on the truck.

What I'm looking for are rub marks, chaffing, and just any signs of things moving around that should not be. Once I find a problem I see what I can do to repair it. Usually a simple fix is all that is needed to prevent a bigger problem later on down the road.

To repair these problems, I carry an assortment of things for a fast fix: zip ties, old radiator hose, gently used tarp straps, even used fan belts, etc. (Recycling is a good thing- Think Green)

Remember this are simple repairs to prevent larger problems later on.

I have found the best time to check for these kinds of problems is when my truck is dirty. you can see rub marks in the dirt /grime much easier.

Is the starter dragging a little,or the alternator gauge not reading properly?

Besides the ground wires on the battery there are also chassis grounds that need to be checked. One is located by the battery box and the other will be under the hood usually located by the starter.Corrosion builds up between the wire and the frame rail or they may become loose. You'll need some basic had tools to clean these up. Just remove the nut and give the cable ends a good scrubbing with a wire brush and reattach. After getting it all put back together start the truck and see if it makes a difference

It could possibly be a grounding problem. One way to find out is to check the ground wire connections. Besides the ground wires on the battery there are also chassis grounds that need to be checked. One is located by the battery box and the other will be under the hood usually located by the starter.
